Manuscript Submission

Manuscript submission
  • Authors should submit their manuscripts for publication consideration in electronic format (LaTeX) via the JCN submission website: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jcommnet.
  • Submissions may be made either as regular papers, or as special issue papers if there is an open call for a special issue. If successfully uploaded, the web-based paper processing system will automatically reply with an acknowledgement of receipt.

  • JCN accepts double column FULL papers without page limits that follow the standard of JCN (or similar IEEE) publication format. however, we strongly recommend keeping the page count under 20 pages in double columns for ease of readability. (The new rule for page limit takes effect for papers submitted after October 9, 2020).
  • We strongly discourage submitting two-part papers unless each can stand on its own merit. Additionally, we recommend avoiding titles that include “Part I” or “Part II.”
  • Introductory discussion should be kept to a minimum and material published elsewhere should be referenced, not reproduced. Material not essential to the continuity of the text should be placed in Appendices.
  • We accept tutorial or surveyl articles only if they have lasting reference value.
  • All formulas must be numbered. Figures and tables must also be numbered and clearly referred to within the text.
  • Figure captions should be typed on a separate page, using the same format as the main text.
  • Each table, along with its caption, must be placed on a separate sheet.
  • It is strongly recommended that the total number of figures (including subfigures) and tables not exceed 16.
  • References must be numbered in the order of occurrence and referred to in the text by bracketed numbers. The list of references must be typed on separate sheets, in the same format as the main text, and ordered consecutively. Each reference item should include the author(s), title, journal name, volume, number, pages, month, year, and publisher, as applicable.

Artificial Intelligence Policy

  • We follow the same policy of IEEE for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by authors and reviewers, which can be found in section 8.2.1 of the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operation Manual, subsections B article 10 and subsection C article 6, respectively.
  • The use of content generated by artificial intelligence (AI) in an article (including but not limited to text, figures, images, and code) shall be disclosed in the acknowledgments section of any article submitted for publication.
  • The AI system used shall be identified, and specific sections of the article that use AI-generated content shall be identified and accompanied by a brief explanation regarding the level at which the AI system was used to generate the content.
  • The use of AI systems for editing and grammar enhancement is common practice and, as such, is generally outside the intent of the above policy. In this case, disclosure as noted above is recommended.
